Updated 9:03 PM EDT, June 16, 2025 Israel struck Iran’s state-run television station Monday during a live broadcast, forcing a reporter to run off camera following an explosion. Israel launched airstrikes and drones at Iran throughout the day, while Iran fired a pre-dawn wave of missiles at Israel that killed at least eight people. The tit-for-tat strikes began when Israel attacked Iran over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, and the fighting has raised fears of a wider, more dangerous regional war. What to know: Trump warns Tehran to evacuate: The U.S. president posted on his social media site an ominous message calling for the immediate evacuation of the Iranian capital while attending the G7 summit in Canada. Trump had said more than once during the day that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Israel strikes Iranian state TV: During a live broadcast, an Iranian state television reporter said the studio was filling with dust. Suddenly, an explosion occurred, cutting out the screen behind her as she hurried off camera amid dust and debris wafting in the air, and sounds of “Allahu Akbar” (God is great) were heard from off-screen. The broadcast quickly switched to pre-recorded programs. Netanyahu says strikes have set Iran’s nuclear program back: He added that Israel is not attempting to topple the Iranian government, but he said he would not be surprised if that happened as a result of the strikes. He also said he is in daily touch with Trump. Israel claims air superiority over Tehran: Israel said it could fly over the Iranian capital without facing major threats and that it destroyed more than 120 surface-to-surface missile launchers in central Iran, a third of Iran’s total, as well as two F-14 planes that Iran used to target Israeli aircraft. 37 min ago Hegseth heading to Situation Room By TARA COPP Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is headed to the White House Situation Room to meet with President Donald Trump and his national security team amid tensions in the Middle East. It comes as the U.S. has repositioned both warships and military aircraft in the region to respond if the conflict between Israel and Iran further escalates. (AP Photo/Amir Kholousi/ISNA) By AMI BENTOV and MELANIE LIDMAN Updated 8:45 PM EDT, June 16, 2025 TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Israel struck Iran’s state-run television station Monday during a live broadcast, forcing a reporter to run off camera following an explosion, after Iran fired a new wave of missiles at Israel that killed at least eight people. In other developments, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli strikes have set Iran’s nuclear program back a “very, very long time.” He added that Israel is not attempting to topple the Iranian government, but he said he would not be surprised if that happened as a result of the strikes. “The regime is very weak,” Netanyahu told a news conference. He also said he is in daily touch with U.S. President Donald Trump, who posted an ominous message on his social media site later Monday calling for the immediate evacuation of Tehran. Israel had warned hundreds of thousands of people in the middle of the Iranian capital to evacuate ahead of the strike against the TV station, which the military said provided a cover for Iranian military operations. That warning came on the fourth day of the conflict, when the Israeli military claimed it had achieved air superiority above the Iranian capital and could fly over the city without facing major threats. Trump posted his own message while in Canada attending the G7 summit. He has repeatedly said — and said more than once during the day — that Iran could not have a nuclear weapon. He emphasized that again in his post, writing “IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” adding that Iran should have signed the “deal” he told it to sign to prevent what he said was “a shame, and waste of human life,” referring to Israel’s attack last week. Trump ended the post with, “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on social media shortly after Trump’s post that he was departing the summit on Monday night, leaving for Washington a day early due to the intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran. Israel’s military issues evacuation warning affecting up to 330,000 people Tehran is home to around 9.5 million people. Earlier Monday, Israel’s military issued an evacuation warning affecting up to 330,000 people in a part of central Tehran that includes the country’s state TV and police headquarters, as well as three large hospitals, including one owned by Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard. Israel’s military has issued similar evacuation warnings for civilians in parts of Gaza and Lebanon ahead of strikes. State-run television abruptly stopped a live broadcast after the station was hit, according to Iran’s state-run news agency. *** From explosion at Haifa refinery to hacking of Zionist regime's air defense; What happened in third phase of True Promise 3 operation? Jun 16, 2025 12:08 UTC Pars Today – On Sunday evening, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran launched the third phase of Operation "True Promise 3," dealing heavy blows to the Zionist regime. In response to the Zionist regime’s aggressive attack on Iranian territory—which resulted in the martyrdom of several high-ranking military commanders, prominent scientists, and innocent Iranian citizens, particularly defenseless children—the Islamic Republic of Iran began retaliatory strikes against the occupied territories on Friday evening. The end of these operations has not yet been announced. This report from Pars Today examines the third phase of Operation "True Promise 3." Missiles from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were launched toward Zionist regime positions in the third phase of Operation "True Promise 3." This combined aerospace offensive by the IRGC included dozens of missiles and drones. The spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces stated: "Zionist settlers must leave the occupied territories, as they will soon become uninhabitable." A second wave of Iranian ballistic missiles was fired toward the occupied territories. Zionist media reported: "Several missiles hit Haifa, and massive explosions were heard." Israel’s Channel 14 stated: "The Iranian missiles that struck Haifa have destroyed numerous buildings." Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv was also hit by an Iranian missile. Zionist media reported that Iran’s Sunday evening attack targeted factories linked to "Rafael," Israel’s aerospace manufacturer and producer of the Iron Dome system. The Zionist regime’s fire and rescue service confirmed heavy Iranian missile strikes. Hebrew media also reported that Iranian missiles struck the Haifa refinery, which supplies oil and energy to Europe. The IRGC Public Relations Office issued a statement following the third phase of Operation "True Promise 3," declaring: "The aerospace forces of the IRGC, continuing their decisive responses—especially in retaliation for the crimes of the Zionist regime—targeted the intelligence centers of the usurping regime in the third phase of Operation 'True Promise 3' with a new wave of missile strikes." The fire department of the occupied territories reported: "Two buildings in the coastal area and another in the southern region were directly hit." Fires broke out in al-Quds and the northern occupied territories. According to Zionist media, around 30 Iranian missiles were fired in the latest attack on Israel. Israel’s military censor banned the publication of any footage showing the landing sites of Iran’s missiles. An alert was issued across the occupied territories from north to south: "Move to the vicinity of shelters." Shortly after, Hebrew media stated: "We are confused—while some systems report Iranian attacks, other sources deny missile launches." The third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh waves of the third phase of Operation "True Promise 3" were carried out with missile and drone strikes. Iran targeted various areas of the occupied territories, including Tel Aviv, Haifa, the Negev, Bnei Brak, Bat Yam, Petah Tikva, Netivot, and Ayalon. Al Jazeera, citing Israeli media, reported: "The Israeli military claims around 100 Iranian missiles were fired toward Israel in this attack." Multiple outlets also reported: "Iranian missiles hit a closed military facility in the occupied Negev, with sources confirming several high-ranking security figures inside were killed." Military correspondent Ynet wrote: "Iran has not yet launched its one-ton or 1.5-ton missiles, nor has it deployed its cruise missiles. We must seek a political end to this war." The IRGC issued a statement coinciding with the eighth wave of Operation "True Promise 3," announcing: "In this operation, the command and control systems of the savage Zionist regime were disrupted using innovative methods and enhanced intelligence-technical capabilities developed by martyrs like Bagheri, Salami, Hajizadeh, and other aerospace martyrs. The enemy’s multi-layered defense systems malfunctioned to the point that their own air defense systems targeted each other." The statement added: "Despite the comprehensive support of the U.S. and Western powers, and despite possessing the most advanced defensive technology, the tactics employed in this operation ensured the successful and maximum impact of missiles on targets in the occupied territories." Operations will continue until the complete destruction of the Zionist regime The IRGC stated in a declaration: "Operation 'True Promise 3' and future operations will be far more devastating, severe, precise, and destructive than previous ones. This operation has also proven that the delusional calculations and assessments of the Zionist aggressors and their American backers regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran were entirely wrong. Now, we must witness the collapse of the occupying Zionist regime." The statement warned: "The supporters of this criminal regime should know that effective, targeted, and increasingly devastating operations against the vital assets of this fake regime will continue until its complete annihilation." MG/ME *** Iranian radars astound world, F-35 not stealthy anymore; End of G-5 stealthy fighters? Jun 16, 2025 12:00 UTC Pars Today- The Zionist regime, after joint scheming with the US and receiving green light from Washington, and having threatened to attack Iran's nuclear facilities several times, hit different targets in Iran in early morning of Friday (June 13, 2025) with air-to-ground missiles which led to the martyrdom of a number of senior military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary people. The so-called operation "Rising Lion" of the Israeli air force used F-15 and F-16 fighters in the operation and these warplanes have also taken over the mission of providing aerial security for the regime against Iran's retaliatory and punitive response. According to Pars Today, the Zionist regime has appropriated a remarkable part of its air force capability to these attacks and claimed that 1,000 sorties of flights had been done in the operation and 330 missiles were fired with 200 fighters, including F-35 which is known as a highly advanced G-5 fighter. The operational range of F-35 is nearly 1,100km and it can carry out missions inside the Iranian soil but it cannot return without refueling. However, American officials had claimed that the Israeli F-35 G-5 fighters can reach Iran without refueling or even losing stealth capability. The US and Israel have secretly increased these fighters' operational range without the need to refuel in the air or land in a third country. An unprecedented event during these attacks was that the Islamic Republic of Iran Army announced shooting down 3 F-35 fighters which has received extensive regional and global media coverage and drawn the attention of world public opinion, especially military experts, to the prowess and capability of the Iranian Armed Forces. In fact, this is the first time that F-35- as the most advanced American fighter- has been shot down with the fire of a defense system. The public relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army announced on June 13, 2025: "The Air Defense Force of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran has struck and destroyed two F-35 fighters and a number of MAVs. The fate of the pilots of these two fighters is not known and the special operation units of the Army are searching for capturing them." Iran is the first country in history which has been able to shoot down the most sophisticated combat plane on the first day of the war. On June 14, too, the public relations of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced, "The Air Defense Force of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran hit and destroyed another F-35 fighter of the Zionist regime in the sky of the west of the country. According to the reports the pilot has ejected and his fate is unknown." The point to note is that the Iranian Armed Forces, due to the repeated threats of the US and Israel, have taken into consideration to counter the G-5 fighters and taken relevant necessary measures, including deployment of Over-the-horizon (OTH) radars to detect and monitor these warplanes, manufacturing and deployment of various air defense systems such as "Bavar-373" long-range system and "Sayyad" tactical defense system which is capable of countering F-35 and F-22. Brigadier General Davood Sheikhan, Commander of the Air Defense Force of the IRGC, who was martyred during the recent attack of the Zionist regime, had stressed a few months ago in an interview with the IRIB that, "We have plans for downing F-22 and F-35 fighters." Bavar-373 has the longest range of air defense missile system of the Iranian Armed Forces. This is considered a very strategic and important achievement in the field of air defense systems and has been designed for engagement with hostile aerial targets with a range of over 300km. Bavar-373 can be prepared easily for launching. It is radar-evasive which enables it to detect and intercept stealthy targets with very low radar cross-section, like F-35. This system was unveiled in 2016 for the first time and annexed to the Army Air Defense Force in 2019. The Iranian defense ministry has also unveiled the upgraded model of Bavar-373, air defense system, called "Sayyad-4". This updating of Bavar-373 system increased its range to 300km. "Bavar-373" long-range air defense system uses "Sayyad-4" and "Sayyad-4B" missiles. Sayyad missile is capable of trekking 200 targets and engaging simultaneously with 12 targets. Its maximum speed is 8 Mach, i.e., 8 times more than the sound speed. This is while, the maximum speed of the single-seat fighter (F-35) is 1. Mach (1,930km) although it has special capabilities such as radar-evasiveness and smart sensors. Sayyad tactical air defense system is also an operational system with medium and long ranges using the least number of components including a radar-carrying vehicle and three vertical missile launchers of Sayyad family. Sayyad-2 and Sayyad-3 missiles have a length of 1.6m, diameter of 40cm, mass of nearly 1,000kg and range of 75-120km. The first one was put into use in 2013 and the second one was put into use in 2017. The missiles of this system can cover ranges of 75-120km which, according to the experts, this engagement range can be upgraded up to 150km. The maximum speed of Sayyad-2 is 3.6 - 4 Mach and that of Sayyad-3 is 4.5 - 5.1 Mach which is much higher than the speed of F-35 fighter (1.6 Mach). Regarding the target detection at 180km distance and capability of engagement with 24 targets, it can be said that the capability of Sayyad tactical system is twice that of Khordad-15 and higher than all medium-range systems such as Khordad-3 in terms of the scale of simultaneous engagement. Therefore, enjoying a variety of air defense systems with different capabilities and systems such as Bavar-373, Sayyad, Khordad-15 and Khordad-3, Iran is able to counter F-35 stealthy fighters of the Zionist regime effectively and hunt them. This has taken place in the recent attacks of the regime's aerial invasion of the Iranian territory where a few fighters were shot down by the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran. RM/ME *** What are the Iranian missiles' features which split "Iron Dome"? Jun 16, 2025 09:04 UTC Pars Today- Pars Today- In continuation of Operation "True Promise 3", the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, with precise and wide missile attacks deep into the Occupied Territories, damaged the security equations of the Zionist regime and put Tel Aviv in bewilderment and anxiety. According to Pars Today, the IRGC Airspace forces on Saturday night put into action a new phase of operation "True Promise 3" with the codename "Ya Ali ibn Abi Taleb" and struck the strategic goals of the Zionist regime with a broad and compound method. This operation, which was designed and launched simultaneously with both ballistic missiles and aggressive drones, was a direct response to the aggression and acts of sabotage by the Israeli regime against the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran. An informed source told Fars news agency that in this operation, ballistic missiles of "Emad", "Qadr" and "Kheibarshekan" were fired to target sensitive goals in Haifa, Tel Aviv and northern regions of the Occupied Territories. Precise targeting of refineries, centers of energy supply, and fueling facilities of the Zionist regime air force indicate the precision and penetrating power of these missiles deep into the defense systems of the enemy. Emad ballistic missile is among Iran's most precise long-range weapons which was used in this operation. This missile, with a range of nearly 2,000km and guidance capability till the moment of hitting, has been developed on the basis of Qadr missile and is equipped with a separable warhead capable of control with maneuvering winglets. The high precision of this missile enabled it to target key goals successfully in Haifa. Qadr missile, which has been designed in three models with the ranges of 1,350-1,950km, displayed its operational capability once again. The missiles of this family, using advanced inertial guidance and liquid fuel, played an important role in destroying defense centers and logistic infrastructures of enemy. In addition, Kheibar shekan advanced missile which was unveiled in February 2025 for the first time, gave a new significance to the recent operation. This missile, with a special tri-cone warhead, enjoys high maneuverability while returning to the atmosphere and has been designed specifically for passing through the sophisticated defense systems like David's Sling and Patriot. Its smaller dimensions have enabled it to be carried and fired from various launchers, including camouflaged civilian platforms, which have enhanced its operational power. The Zionist regime media announced that at least one Zionist was killed and tens of others injured during this operation. The images released from the northern cities of the Occupied Territories show horrendous blasts, fire in oil facilities of Haifa and very heavy damages to the military and economic infrastructures of the regime. Zionists have admitted that the recent attacks of the Islamic Republic of Iran were unprecedented in terms of precision, intensity and coordination so that the defense system of the fake regime has been dumfounded and failed to counter effectively. Conversely, Iran's defense system, in full alert, successfully respond the countermeasures of the regime and intercepted and destroyed a notable number of the aggressive cruise missiles, drones and Micro Air Vehicles. According to the Air Defense Base of Iran, three hostile cruise missiles, 10 drones and tens of MAVs were destroyed just in the early hours of clashes. Regarding the messages issued by Iranian military officials, if the Zionist regime continues aggressions, the retaliatory measures of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be much broader and more horrendous. Operation True Promise 3 is considered a turning point in the deterrence strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Simultaneous usage of precise and varied missiles and suicide drones alongside electronic warfare indicates the full growth and preparedness of Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran to respond any regional threat. The arms systems used in this operation are not only advanced in terms of technique, they also convey the message to the world that Iran is capable of imposing very heavy costs on any enemy which dares to invade and threaten its interests. RM/ME *** Blood of poet girl on the pink bed; Massacre of Parnia Abbasi and her family by the criminal Tel Aviv regime Jun 15, 2025 04:45 UTC Pars Today - Following the attack by the Zionist regime on Iran, an image widely circulated on social media showing a part of a girl’s hair visible under the rubble, lying on a pink mattress. This image belongs to an Iranian poet girl, Parnia Abbasi. The Zionist regime attacked parts of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Friday, resulting in the martyrdom of numerous high-ranking commanders of the armed forces, prominent scientists, and innocent Iranian citizens, especially defenseless children. Among the martyrs is a young Iranian girl "Parnia Abbasi," who was martyred alongside her father, mother, and younger brother. This report by Pars Today takes a look at her biography. Birth Parnia Abbasi, 23 years old, was a poet, English language teacher, and employee. Her birthday was just around the corner. She was a graduate of translation studies from Qazvin International University and had recently been accepted into a master’s program in management. Parnia’s father was a retired Education Ministry official, and her mother was a retired bank employee. Life in the Orkideh Complex Parnia lived with her father, mother, and brother in a residential complex in Tehran where all the residents were civilians. On Friday morning, Parnia was supposed to meet her close friend, Maryam, at 11 a.m. Maryam recounts that after Israel's attack on Tehran, she went to Parnia’s house and was confronted with the ruins of their home, located in Block Four of the Orkideh Complex on Sattarkhan Street in Tehran. It appears that all the residents of this building were martyred. Parnia's younger brother Maryam, Parnia’s friend, witnessed up close as first Parnia’s body and then her brother’s were pulled out from under the rubble of their home. However, they could not rescue Parnia’s parents simultaneously, and the rescue teams said that loaders needed to come to clear the debris in order to recover their bodies. Parham, Parnia’s 16-year-old brother, was a student. The pink bed According to Maryam, the middle part of their building was directly hit, causing it to collapse: "Others in the building were also martyred. That photo of the pink bed with blood on it refers to the same location." MG *** Pakistani defense minister: We stand by Iran / Danger threatening all Islamic countries Jun 15, 2025 05:06 UTC Pars Today - The Pakistani defense minister, Khawaja Mu'hammed Asif, condemning the savage moves of the Israeli regime, especially its military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, said on Saturday, "Iran is not only a neighbor, but also a brother country with deeply-rooted relations with Pakistan and we stand by Iran." Khawaja Muhammed Asif, in his speech at National Assembly of Pakistan, stressing that his country stands with and supports Iran, called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to hold an emergency meeting to compile a common strategy in response to the continuous aggressions of the Israeli regime. Asif described the savage measures of Israel as a serious threat for the regional and global peace and said sorrowfully, "Palestinian children are killed, but protests in non-Muslim countries are more than Muslim countries." The Pakistani defense minister, warning that if the Islamic world does not act together, every one of them will finally be targeted, said, "The way in which the Zionist regime has struck Yemen, Iran and Palestine shows that it is a greater plan and most of the Muslim countries are now facing security dangers." Emphasizing that Pakistan is decisively standing beside Iran and will continue supporting it at international organizations, Khawaja Muhammed Asif reminded, "Israel's hands are plunged in the blood of the innocent." RM/MG *** June 16, 2025. IRNA -- The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) has condemned an Israeli strike on the headquarters of Iran’s national television. Tehran, IRNA – The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) has condemned an Israeli strike on the headquarters of Iran’s national television. In a statement on Monday evening, IRNA said the Israeli strike on the television headquarters in the capital, Tehran, earlier in the day was another manifestation of the Tel Aviv regime’s “policy of institutionalized and state terrorism.” “This criminal act was carried out in contravention of all international regulations and norms on the immunity of reporters and media offices and was a desperate attempt at silencing the great Iranian nation’s voice of truth,” IRNA said. The statement strongly condemned the Israeli strike and offered sympathies to the manager and personnel of the IRIB. IRNA said it stood by the IRIB and other Iranian media to reflect the voice of the Iranian nation in the face of Israel’s war of aggression. Separately, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei called the strike a war crime and asked the United Nations Security Council to act. The Israeli regime began strikes inside Iranian territory, including on residential buildings, in an unprovoked act of aggression overnight on June 13. Top Iranian military officials were assassinated in targeted strikes. Civilians died when houses were directly struck. Entire population centers were affected. Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed new military commanders later that same day and said life would turn bleak for Israel. Shortly afterwards, Iran began punitive strikes deep inside Israel, hitting Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, among other targets, with ballistic missiles and drones. Life has come to a halt in the occupied territories as Israelis have been spending entire days in underground bomb shelters. Iranian officials have said the mission will continue as long as necessary. Waves of Iranian strikes have been hitting targets deep inside Israel since then. Despite heavy Israeli censorship, abundant footage has appeared of the Iranian missiles hitting their targets in precision strikes. *** Israel is killing children; committing war crimes in its acts of aggression: Foreign Ministry June 16, 2025 Tehran, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei has condemned the Israeli regime for killing children in its ongoing war of aggression against Iran. “The Israeli regime has killed many children during the past 3 days of its war of aggression on Iran and has also targeted a children's hospital (Hakim Children’s Hospital affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences),” Baqaei wrote on his X account on late Sunday. He noted that the Israeli regime is “killing children as a hobby” as admitted once by Yair Golan, the former deputy chief of staff of the Israeli army. Separately, Saeed Khatibzadeh, deputy foreign minister for research, has denounced Israel for committing war crimes by targeting the ministry’s infrastructure in its aerial assault on Tehran. “The criminal regime of Israel launched a deliberate and ruthless strike on one of the buildings of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, located directly across from the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS),” Khatibzadeh posted on X. “Several civilians were injured in the attack, including a number of my colleagues, who were taken to the hospital for treatment,” he said, adding that the library of IPIS was targeted in this “cowardly assault” as well. “This is yet another clear war crime, part of the Israel’s ongoing and systematic campaign of aggression against Iran,” Khatibzadeh, who is also the chairman of the IPIS, added his social media post. *** *** Fair Use Notice This site contains copyrighted material the
