I Would Rather Vote for SpongBob Than Trump

By Mahmoud El-Yousseph

Al-Jazeerah, CCUN, October 12, 2015

Sponge Bob Trump

Donald Trump is two-faced and I would not vote for a candidate who keeps flip-flopping on issues every time the wind blows.

Trump began his campaign with a slur against Mexican immigrants. Now he has changed his mind on the question of Syrian refugees after he once said he would grant them asylum because of "humanitarian basis.” Trump now says he would kick them out. "I'm putting the people on notice that refugees who are coming here from Syria as part of this mass migration that if I win, they're going back."

First of all, refugees and immigrants are not the same. Refugees are people who are fleeing war to safety whereas immigrants are people who leave at their choice and get to pick where they go. Secondly, if Trump doesn't like refugees coming to our country, he should ask our President to quit bombing the daylight out of other Muslim countries that he dislikes.

The 1,500 Syrian refugees who were allowed to enter the U.S. are a small token in comparison to what Lebanon took in. Lebanon is a country of 4 million people who have welcomed over one million Syrian refugees. That is more than what the US, Russia, Iran, the Arab Gulf states and Israel took combined. Besides, how would President Trump (God  forbid) explain the expulsion of thousands of U.S. legal residences who have committed no crime? After all, the U.S. did contribute to the Syrian refugee crisis with its bombing of Syria and its support to the groups and neighboring countries who are trying to overthrow the current Syrian regime.

Many people do not know that Trump's mother was an immigrant who was born in Scotland and his father was the son of a German immigrant. Let's not also forget that Trump himself was an "anchor husband", since two of his wives (from former Eastern block countries) married him to get U.S. citizenship.

Donald Trump has cited mental health issues as a reason of the Oregon shooting. Now, Trump wants you to believe that armed teachers could have stopped the massacre.

Let's face it, Trump is vile whose heart is an empty hole and he strikes me as cocky as a peacock who spreads his feathers to impress his mates. I would rather vote for “SpongeBob SquarePants” than Trump.
