US-Led Coalition Strikes Facilities Used by Daesh (ISIS)

Release No: 18-100 Oct. 22, 2018

US Central Command, October 22, 2018

Release # 20181022-01

SOUTHWEST ASIA -

On Oct. 22 a Coalition strike destroyed several buildings used by Daesh (ISIS) to launch attacks against Syrian Democratic Force partners in As Susah, Syria.  One of those facilities used by Daesh was a mosque that was being used as a defensive fighting position and command center.  The strike killed several Daesh as they were actively firing on coalition partner forces, which eliminated another Daesh capability from the battlefield.

As the second coalition strike on an active Daesh fighting position originating from a mosque in less than a week, Daesh demonstrates desperation and the willingness to misuse protected structures to launch military attacks against SDF and Coalition forces.

4 years of killing and destruction, about 20600 casualties, about 5000 children and citizen women, and about 140000 raids and barrels by regime’s planes caused great destruction

SOHR, 20/10/2018

More than 1460 days in 48 months during full 4 consecutive years, witnessed an escalation of shelling by the regime of Bashar al-Assad, these helicopters and warplanes which began a major transformation since October 2014, through a significant escalation in operations that focused mainly on killing and destruction, where the Syrian Observatory has been monitoring the destruction for 4 consecutive years of most of the cities, towns, villages, neighborhoods, and areas that were out of regime’s control and their allies, in stages preceding the intervention of the Russian planes and coincided with their intervention, where the bombardment by tens of thousands of barrel bombs and raids, and caused significant destruction in the infrastructure, of public utilities and property of citizens, and caused human casualties that increased with every new killing or massacre, and at the beginning; this killing was not halted by neither international, regional nor local resolutions, but by political and military deals instead, where the Russians were the guarantors and godfathers of their progress along with other regional and international parties involved in sharing the country.

Where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented since the 20th of October 2014 until the 20th of October 2018, more than 139887 airstrikes by warplanes and helicopters of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime, where the helicopters dropped more than 69275 barrel bombs, while the warplanes carry out at least 70612air raids.

This ongoing violent shelling resulted in the fall of more casualties and wounded, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented in 48 months since the 20th of October 2014, until today the 20th of October 2018, the death of 13016 citizens, they are 2980 children under the age of eighteen, 1974 citizen women over the age of eighteen, and 8062 men, in addition to the injury of about 79 thousand citizens, the number of people documented by Syrian Observatory for Human Rights of who were killed and injured by bombing and shelling by regime’s warplanes and helicopters in 48 months, in which thousands of them have amputated limbs and permanent disabilities.

Also 7569 fighters of the rebel and Islamic factions, Fateh Al-Sham front, the “Islamic State” organization, the Islamic Turkestani Party and other factions have been killed, and thousand others have been injured.

Thus, the number of the civilian casualties who have been killed by raids by the warplanes and the helicopters of al-Assad’s regime since the start of the Syrian Revolution in March 2011, until today the 20th of October 2018, has increased to 25578 citizens; they are 16194 men, 5741 children under the age of eighteen and 3643 citizen women over the age of eighteen.
