Hundreds of Syrians Killed by Russian-Regime Air Strikes, Bombardment, Destroying City After City

September 5, 2017

Editor's Note:

The coalition which fights the Islamic State and other Sunni groups in Syria consists of US-led NATO forces, Russian forces, Syrian Alewite government forces, Iranian-backed Shi'i militias, and Kurdish peshmerga forces. The coalition's continuous attacks have resulted in the killing of thousands of Iraqi and Syrian Sunni Muslim Arabs and the eviction of millions of them as a result of the destruction of their cities and villages.

The end outcome is going to be the weakening and possible dismantling of Iraqi and Syrian states as well as the eviction (ethnic cleansing of) Sunni Muslim Arabs, particularly from the upper Euphrates region of northwestern Iraq and northeastern Syria.

The larger context for understanding the Syrian war (and other wars in the Middle East) is that it contributes to the implementation of the Zionist-Israeli plan of destroying the Arab Middle Eastern states in preparation for the establishment of the greater Israeli empire, from the Nile of Egypt to the Euphrates of Iraq.

The regime forces are getting closer to Deir Ezzor military base and 8 car bombs try to stop them from advancing to the besieged Brigade 137

SOHR, 04/09/2017

More than 50 casualties, half of them are children and women, were killed in two weeks of Russian warplanes’ airstrikes on the western desert of Deir Ezzor

The outskirts and the vicinity of Deir Ezzor city is witnessing violent clashes between the regime forces backed by their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against ISIS members. The SOHR monitored the advancement of the regime forces and their control over the towns of Kabajeb and al-Shoula located on the main road of al-Sukhnah and Deir Ezzor city, and they managed to advance and get closer to the military base of Deir Ezzor besieged by ISIS. The regime forces have become less than 12 km away from the walls of the base which has been besieged since January 2017, as a result of violent attack by the organization, in which they managed to impose full siege on the airport and the nearby neighborhoods of Harabesh and al-Tahtouh, and the SOHR learned that Russian warplanes continue carrying out airstrikes targeting the “Islamic State” organization-held area and positions in the vicinity and the outskirts of the city.

This approaching to the military base of Deir Ezzor, comes in conjunction with violent clashes taking place between the regime forces and their allied militiamen against members of ISIS in the vicinity of Brigade 137 besieged by ISIS, where the clashes are concentrated between the advanced and besieged regime forces against ISIS members, where the regime forces are trying to advance and meet their besieged forces in the Brigade to implement the first step of lifting the siege on the regime forces controlled areas in the city of Deir Ezzor, while reliable sources asserted to the SOHR that ISIS blew up 8 car bombs in an attempt to prevent the advancement of the regime forces and stop them from meeting the regime forces advancing from the western countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The Western countryside of Deir Ezzor witnessed during the past 2 weeks increasing airstrikes on the villages, and towns of the countryside, which were carried out by Russian and the regime’s warplanes, leaving tens of people killed and injured, where it rose to at least 51, including 8 children and 14 women, the number of martyrs documented by the SOHR since the 20th of August 2017, in addition to others injured with different severity. Cross references confirmed to the SOHR that clashes are taking place in the vicinity of the besieged Brigade 137 between ISIS on one hand and the regime forces inside the besieged Brigade and those advancing into the area from Al-Bishri Mountain on the other. The latter advanced into the area a few hours ago and became only 10 km away from the city entrance. The SOHR also learned that ISIS withdrew from the road connecting Al-Sukhna and Deir Ezzor cities including the areas of Kabajib and Al-Shola.

The SOHR published yesterday that violent clashes are continuing between the regime forces supported by gunmen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities on one hand, and the members of the “Islamic State” organization on the other, in areas in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, in which the regime forces seek to reach Deir Ezzor city and lift the siege which has been imposed on the city for more than 32 months, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights observed that the regime forces managed to achieve new advancement and control of Al-Kharita oil field

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 3rd of September 2017 that the western dessert of Deir Ezzor witnesses intensive shelling by the regime forces by means of missiles, mortars, tanks and artillery. ISIS Convoy Remains in Syrian Desert, OIR Officials Report

From a Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve News Release

SOUTHWEST ASIA, Sept. 4, 2017 —

Today is the seventh day Islamic State of Iraq and Syria fighters and their families have spent with a bus convoy now stalled in the Syrian desert east of Sukhnah, Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve officials reported.

The convoy, initially consisting of 17 buses and other support vehicles, was halted in its move toward Iraq on Aug. 29 by coalition strikes that prevented its movement to the east.

The coalition and its Iraqi partners were not a party to the agreement between the Lebanese Hezbollah, the Syrian regime and ISIS to allow these experienced fighters to transit territory under Syrian regime control to the Iraqi border. Officials pointed out the coalition has been clear that in support of its Iraqi partners, it will not allow the movement of ISIS fighters near the border or onto sovereign Iraqi soil.

Food and Water Deliveries

The coalition has never struck the convoy, officials noted, and has allowed food and water deliveries to reach the stranded women and children. "The coalition will continue to take action against ISIS whenever and wherever it is able to do so without harming noncombatants, they added.

Coalition leaders have communicated a course of action to the Russians, providing the Syrian regime an opportunity to remove the women and children from this situation. "The Syrian regime is letting women and children suffer in the desert. This situation is completely on them," said Army Lt. Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, the combined joint task force commander.

Over the past week, six of the 17 buses have returned westward toward Palmyra, back in Syrian regime territory, unimpeded by any coalition action, officials said, adding that the coalition continues to monitor the remaining 11 buses and communicate with Russian officials who advise the Syrian regime.
