BABEL / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two car bombs and a suicide bomber with explosive belt were hit on Monday the Hilla Textile factory, leaving at least 55 people killed and 220 others wounded.

“Two car bombs hit the factory’s staff while they were leaving the facility’s compound today’s afternoon,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

When people gathered at the attack’s location, a suicide bomber hit them.

“The bomber had an explosive belt around him,” a source explained.

A preliminary record of casualties show that at least 55 people were killed and 220 others were wounded in this triple bombing.

Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad.

Civilian killed, another wounded in blast in Falluja

ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian was killed and another wounded when a roadside bomb went off on Monday east of Falluja city.
“Police forces cordoned the area, while the injured was admitted to hospital,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. 

Twenty-nine people were killed and 112 others were wounded in violent acts that occurred earlier today throughout Iraq.

Police and medical sources reported casualties in Baghdad, Wassit, Falluja, Ninewa, Diala, and Salah al-Din.

Baghdad blast’s casualties rise to 23

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Casualties from the car bomb explosion in al-Tarmiya district in northern Baghdad rose to 5 dead and 18 wounded, an army source said on Monday. “The car bomb, which went off in al-Tarmiya district, killed five and wounded 18, including the district’s mayor,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He did not give further details. A police source had said earlier that a car bomb went off in al-Tarmiya district, northern Baghdad, killing three civilians and injuring 16.

4 policemen wounded in blast in Samaraa

SALAH AL-DIN / Aswat al-Iraq:

Four policemen were wounded on Monday when a roadside bomb hit their patrol in western Samaraa city.

“One of the injuries is a police lieutenant,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He noted that the blast left damage in the patrol’s vehicle. 

Twenty-nine people were killed and 112 others were wounded in violent acts that occurred earlier today throughout Iraq.

Police and medical sources reported casualties in Baghdad, Wassit, Falluja, Ninewa, Diala, and Salah al-Din.

2 Peshmerga fighters killed in suicide bombing in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Two Peshmerga (Kurd) fighters were killed on Monday and one was wounded when a suicide bomber hit their checkpoint with his booby-trapped car east of Mosul city.

“The checkpoint is run by the Iraqi army, U.S. military, and Peshmerga,” a local military source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He noted that the victims were admitted to hospitals in Arbil, the capital city of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. 

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Gunmen detonate house of Sahwa fighter in Balad

SALAH AL-DIN / Aswat al-Iraq:

Unknown gunmen detonated the house of a Sahwa (Awakening) fighter in Balad, south of Tikrit city, without causing casualties.

“The house was totally destroyed,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He noted that the Sahwa fighter and his family were not at the house when the blast occurred.

Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, lies 175 km north of Baghdad.

7 security elements killed in attacks on checkpoints in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Unknown gunmen on Monday killed seven security elements in attacks on six checkpoints in Baghdad.

“In addition to the seven killed, 11 other servicemen were wounded in the attacks,” a local security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He noted that the gunmen used guns with silencers in all the attacks.

Two policemen were killed and 11 persons were wounded when three roadside bombs went off in Baghdad on Monday.

“Seven policemen were among the injured” a local security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Earlier attacks today that targeted security checkpoints in Baghdad left seven security elements dead.

Woman killed, 4 civilians wounded in blast in Falluja

ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq:

One woman was killed on Monday and four civilians were wounded when unknown gunmen detonated a house in eastern Falluja city.

“The house belongs to a civilian person,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He noted that all the casualties live in the house.

Earlier, three civilians were killed and seven others were wounded when unknown gunmen detonated four houses belonging to security elements in central Falluja city.

Falluja, the biggest city of Anbar province, lies 45 km west of Baghdad.

Three civilians were killed on Monday and seven others were wounded when unknown gunmen detonated four houses belonging to security elements in central Falluja city.

A local police source reported the event to Aswat al-Iraq news agency, but gave no further details.

Falluja, the biggest city of Anbar province, lies 45 km west of Baghdad.
