Arab Foreign Ministers Decide to File Lawsuit with ICJ Against the Israeli occupation Government for its Measures to Judaize Jerusalem

Arab Foreign Ministers decide to file a lawsuit against occupation

[08/05/2009 - 11:05 AM ]

CAIRO, (PIC)--

Arab Foreign Ministers meeting in Cairo on Thursday decided to file a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice against the Israeli occupation government for its drive to Judaize Jerusalem.

A diplomatic source at the Arab League said that the ministers had three issues on their agenda; dangers engulfing Jerusalem, discussion of the report by the committee commissioned to investigate Israeli war crimes during the war on Gaza and to reach a common Arab stand towards the latest developments in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The Ministers called on the UN Security Council, the Quartet committee and concerned regional and international organisations to intervene to stop Israel measures in east Jerusalem, which the ministers said aim to Isolate Jerusalem, uproot its Arab residents and Judaize the city.

They also called for financial support to help Palestinian residents of Jerusalem withstand Israeli pressures to leave.

The Ministers also decided to form a committee of legal experts to confront the Israeli occupation practices in Jerusalem.

They called for an intensification of the efforts to bring Israelis accused of committing crimes against humanity and genocide to justice.

The meeting was attended by ministers of half the member countries, the other half was represented by ministerial officials who had full authority to vote.

Mousa: Netanyahu's peace conditions unacceptable

[ 07/05/2009 - 11:09 AM ]

CAIRO, (PIC)--

Amr Mousa, the Arab League Secretary General, has lashed out at Israeli occupation governmetn premier, Benjamin Netanyahu's, conditions for peace during an AIPAC speech, describing them as "unacceptable".

Mousa said in a press statement on Wednesday that there would be no return to past experiences that led to complete failure of the peace process, and added, "We will not accept partial solutions".

"The Arab initiative is final and there will be no other Arab stands," Mousa underlined, adding that it was clear that the Israeli premier was against the two-state solution and favored negotiations without preconditions, which means that he would continue in building more settlements (on occupied Palestinian lands).

The Secretary General described as a "big strategic mistake" any Arab country's acceptance of such a policy, and added that even the Palestinians should not resume talks with the Israelis in light of this policy.

Mousa hoped that the world community would "firmly" confront the new Israeli "deceptive" campaign, which, he said, only serves to confuse the peace process.
