Famous Quotes about War&Peace #19

"From 1985 to 1990 (Reagan & Bush Sr. Administrations), the United States Government approved 771 licenses for the export to Iraq of $1.5 billion worth of biological agents and high-tech equipment with military application. The United States spent virtually an entire decade making sure that Saddam Hussein had almost whatever he wanted... The Administration has never acknowledged that it took this course of action, nor has it explained why it did so. In reviewing documents and press accounts, and interviewing knowledgeable sources, it becomes clear that the United States export-control policy was directed by U.S. foreign policy as formulated by the State Department, and it was U.S. foreign policy to assist the regime of Saddam Hussein"

Samuel Gejdenson
U.S. Congressman (1981-2001)

Many Americans do not support the US Government's policy towards Israel

Please make sure that your readers know that many Americans do not support the US Government's policy towards Israel......many indeed oppose it, but are silenced by the cries of Anti-semitism.

The assignation of Abdul Aziz Al-Rantissi

The assignation of Abdul Aziz Al-Rantissi is just another disgusting chapter in the Israeli oppression of the Palestinian people. Whether is be illegal occupation, assassinations or weapons of mass destruction., Israel has a complete disregard for international law.

They however would not be so bold in their actions if it wasn't for the unquestioning support of the US. They supported the illegal killing of Abdul Aziz Al-Rantissi and have vetoed over 30 resolutions on everything from the massacre in Jenin to the apartheid wall.

However, the one ray of hope is that the Palestinian people are not alone, the majority of the world supports them. In York we hold a Palestine Solidarity Campaign stall in the middle of town every week, and receive a lot of support. Next month we will be running a coach to the national demonstration against the wall in London, of which I'm sure there will be a large showing of solidarity.

Worldwide outrage will only continue to grow against Israel, there position is untenable.

Bush makes me embarrassed to be an American

Hi. My name is Erik Swanson. I'm a 45 year old American. I'm writing to apologize for the actions of my government. With each passing day our president demonstrates his utter ineptitude for diplomacy and management of our affairs with the rest of he world. He is a genuinely stupid, stupid man. He has left a lot of dead people in his wake in your part of the world. He makes me embarrassed to be an American. As an ordinary working man I feel quite powerless except to vote against him in November.

Are there any charities I can donate to to help the Palestinian people? It's very important to me that they only work through peaceful means.

One last question. Are there any organizations here in the US that I can join or assist to help the Palestinian people?

Thanks, and keep up the good work. I don't always agree with your slant on the news of the day, but I think you do as good a job as any news organization here in America. I look forward to the day when all Americans and all Arabs are friends.

Yours Truly,

Erik Swanson, White Lake, MI USA

BUSH VERSION OF US DEMOCRACY

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Condi Rice teamed up like a mafia group hell-bent to get Saddam, dead or alive. Celebrity reporter Bob Woodward’s new book, ‘Plan of attack’, details some crucial moments of decision making in the White House, where going to war in Iraq appears like going to picnic in the Rose Garden.

Full seventy two days before 9/11, Bush was gunning CIA director George Tenet, not for intelligence on Osama, but for something more substantial than some vague satellite shots that he and his deputy brought in on cue from the President to find some dope on Saddam. Bush commented that ‘Joe public’ would not buy that. Tenet assured Bush it is a dank slam – sure case.

Next, Rumsfeld wants upto a billion dollar budget to plan the preliminaries. Bush wants the planning to be secret and it is decided that money will be transferred from Afghanistan funding, without any prior sanction from Congress. Another illegal operation.

Only after more or less finalizing the private adventure of going to war, Bush thinks of his Secretary of State, Colin Powell and informs him that war is on. A surprised Powell could only ask, if the President has thought of all the consequence?

This is how US President who wants to bring democracy to the ‘uncivilized’ Middle East, manhandles the democratic rights of his own people. Will a fascist regime behave any different?

Can this man be trusted by rest of the world when he sermonizes in the name of democracy, freedom and peace?

GHULAM MUHAMMED, Mumbai – India.

An Open letter to OPEC Ministers

SIRS;

On behalf of the peoples living in poor countries, I humbly appealing to all of you to please reduce the price of oil in the world market. It's truly debilitating to the already suffering peoples everytime that the price of oil increase and this is because they're the one directly affected. Hoping that you will consider this letter in the name of humanitarian appeal. This is plain and simple but it's about the lives of the peoples that I'm appealing to all of you again.

Thank you

Cesar e. Jornacion
