The US Invasion and Occupation of Iraq Wasn't Worth It After All, PART IV: News Media Cover Up

By Ali Al-Hail

Al-Jazeerah, October 25, 2006

Very interesting was yesterday October 22nd as regard to Western news media. Neither had the BBC Online, nor had the Yahoo, and AP mentioned the yet new figure of the American soldiers, and marines who were killed only, in the last 22 days.

Though are the aforesaid news media relatively, known for impartiality, transparency, and accuracy withholding such an information began to cast doubts on their credibility as news media. Whether was that deliberate or merely, lapses needs to be checked further.

Al Jazeera TV had added 6 American troops who were killed yesterday October 22nd . As a result, the number of American soldiers, and marines who were killed during the past 22 days changed to 86 from 79 mentioned yesterday in part III of this article.

In a mental arithmetical calculation, this rise in American fatalities means that, over the last 22 days, American forces in Iraq lost an average of 4 soldiers, and marines daily. This development is utterly, significant.

For the last 3 and a half years, the neocons have been claiming victory in Iraq over the Iraqi National resistance. Ironically, enough President Bush, himself had, last week declared victory in Iraq.

Isn’t this a huge sham, and a colossal blunder? What kind of logic is this? When the sole super power on earth, occupying Iraq, and is using the most sophisticated weapons ever existed in living memory, losing an average of 4 soldiers, and marines on a daily basis in 22 days only, means that, the resistance, despite obsolete basic weapons are defeating the occupier.

Of course, one has to consider the injured, the maimed, and the psychologically, troubled, and the mentally, screwed up. They are reported by Western media sources to have exceeded 100 soldiers, and marines in only, 22 days.

The observed problem in the West, in general is that, it overwhelmingly, believes in the materialistic strength e.g., jetfighters, tanks, armored vehicles, guided missiles, and well quipped looking troops. But, these factors don’t necessarily, make victory.

The human factor does. Hence, the resistance fighters, albeit scarce resources believe in dying for their cause which is protecting their land. They don’t fear getting killed. As a matter of fact they go for it. Because they are aware of the consequences.

Whether the West perceives such a belief as craziness, doesn’t matter to the fighters because it works for them extremely, fine. In any case, their conviction yields positive results for them, and negative results for their enemy. After 3 and a half years they are still capable of hurting the enemy extremely, hard.

A question arises, were the BBC, yahoo, and AP told to blackout, manipulate, and cover up in order to help out with lessening an already politicians’ unfathomable embarrassment in both the US and Britain, over an exit strategy from the deep Iraqi mud?
