75-year-old woman, Fatima Zahran, dies Sunday of injuries sustained during Friday Israeli terrorist  invasion of Bethlehem

(Bethlehem) Najib Farraj Sunday, 05 November 2006

Fatima Zahran, the elderly woman shot in the abdomen during Friday's Israeli terrorist invasion of Bethlehem, died on Sunday. The 75 year old was on the balcony of her central West Bank home when Israeli forces were in the midst of the 15 hour invasion.

Three people are dead now, including a 14 year old boy shot in the head and a member of the armed resistance. Dozens of people are injured.

Members of the armed resistance and children with stones were among those trying to stave off the invasion. A statement released by the the Factional Coordinating Committee called on all free peoples of the world to intervene and stop the "ongoing Israeli killing spree" throughout the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

Medical sources at Beit Jala, or Hussain Government Hospital, announced Fatima Mohammad Abdul Fattah Zahran's death Sunday morning. Medical staff and patients were among those targeted during Friday's invasion with Israeli soldiers besieging ambulances and taking patients during transport, and rounding up doctors and nurses while searching the injured.

Bethlehem - Ma'an -

Thousands of Palestinians from Bethlehem governorate have participated on Sunday in the funeral procession of Fatima Abdul-Fattah Zahran, 80, who was seriously injured on Friday, during the Israeli invasion of Bethlehem. The invasion resulted in the assassination of the Al-Quds Brigades leader Tha'ir Hassan and the death of the young boy Abdul-Kareem Ubayyat. Fatima Zahran died on Sunday morning from her wounds.

Mourners denounced the Israeli atrocities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, assuring that escalation and aggression will not bring about security for the Israelis.

Al-Jazeerah Editor's Note:

Israeli media describe killing civilians as terrorism. However, when Israeli occupation soldiers kill Palestinian civilians, they do not describe the Israeli killers of civilians as terrorists. It's time for Israeli terrorist acts to be described as terrorism.

Israeli occupation forces use the term "arrest" for "kidnapping" Palestinians from their homes. Objective media worldwide should not fall to the Israeli trap. This is kidnapping.

The Israeli occupation of Palestine is illegal under international law. The Israeli occupation government and its occupation forces have no jurisdiction over Palestinians. Only legitimate governments can arrest citizens. It follows that the correct term is "kidnapping" Palestinians, not "arresting" them by Israeli occupation forces.
