Abu Amr warns of escalating environmental health crisis in Gaza City

Legislative Council member Dr. Ziad Abu Amr has appealed to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to provide urgent assistance to the Municipality of Gaza City. The appeal is to ensure the continuation of services to the hundreds of thousands of the city’s citizens that are being affected by the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip.

Dr. Abu Amr expressed his concern over the depletion of fuel resulting from the Israeli attacks and the inability of the municipality to meet its financial obligations. He informed President Abbas of the escalating environmental health crisis, citing the inability of the municipality to collect waste and ensure clean water.

The Council member pointed out that while he has received concern of the same nature from many of his contacts and colleagues, little action has been taken on the issue. Dr. Abu Amir pleaded for President Abbas to intervene immediately and provide financial and logistical assistance to the city before conditions worsen.
