Former Iranian President, Ali Akbar Hashmi Rafsanjani, leading Friday prayers in Tehran yesterday. British soldiers at the site of a roadside bomb in a Basra street yesterday. Two years after the US-UK invasion of Iraq, British intelligence admitted finally that they were wrong concerning their claims of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. (Alquds Alarabi, 4/9/05).
Voters in Djibouti casting their ballots in the one-candidate presidential election. The opposition opted for not participating in the election for the expectation of fraud. President Ismael Omar Jilah is the only candidate (Alrai, 4/9/05).
