Mahmoud Abbas (56), more commonly known as Abul Abbas, died in his prison in Baghdad yesterday. He was arrested by US forces in April 2003 after the fall of Baghdad. Neither he nor his organization ever participated in fighting against the US. Abul Abbas was a member of the PLO Executive Committee and a member of the Palestinian Parliament in Exile, the Palestine National Council (Assafir, 3/10/04).
