Add on information for Al-Jazeerah Front Page: US Aid to Israel Regarding your two counters on the front page: (1) Gross US National Debt & (2) Cost of the War in Iraq. Is there any counter or easily up date information weekly or monthly Counter with Information on Total US. Dollars $ Given to the State of Israel to posting date. Which would be included with the two Counters above ? Ron Kennedy Editor: I don't know of such a counter but it's a good idea. Readers are urged to find or design one. It would be an important educational effort.
Double Standard = Worst Example Hello, I've been saying for over 30 years that as long as the U.S. treats Israel like God's Chosen Master Race and the Palestinians are mistreated, there will never be a chance for peace in the Middle East and the U.S. will never have any genuine credibility in the world... All the Best, Scott Young
" Harper's foreign policy." Jan. 16, 2007 The Editor, The Globe & Mail. Jeffrey Simpson, in his column: {" Stephen Harper's proactive inactive foreign policy" Jan. 16}, has it exactly right when he says: " Mr. Harper has shifted Canada's position on the Palestinian-Israeli question to align the country with the preferences of the Canada-Israel Committee." Canada's credibility is not only shattered in the Arab and Muslim worlds but also amongst the vast majority of members of the international community who still care for international law, the UN Charter and universal human rights, which Israel continues to completely disregard. Yours sincerely, Ismail Zayid, MD. Canada
Germany bids to outlaw denial of Holocaust across continent Dear Editor, Tony Blair describes the veil worn by some Muslim women is divisive, Western politicians and newspapers defame the Prophet Muhammad on a daily basis and Muslims Worldwide (including Germany) have to deal with daily verbal and physical assaults solely because they are Muslim. These assaults on Muslims and Islam are defended as freedom of speech by those who conduct these actions and make these derogatory remarks. And yet, these same groups are working to criminalize denial of the Holocaust? While I also agree that the Holocaust and the atmosphere surrounding its genesis (similar to that which currently exists in Western attitudes toward Muslims and Islam) as criminal and reprehensible, I find the banning of Holocaust denial, while the West embraces and defends verbal and physical abuse of Muslims, the ultimate example of hypocrisy! This is a double standard whose very defense is indefensible! Timothy Stinson Miami, Florida, USA Germany bids to outlaw denial of Holocaust across continent • Nazi symbols and racist speech 'should be banned' • Prince Harry's fancy dress would have broken law http://www.guardian.co.uk/germany/article/0,,1991371,00.html
