Dear Senator Kerry,

You need to present yourself as a World Diplomat

I attempted to communicate by telephone with your headquarters on 9-11-04 but was unable to contact any human being or leave a message.

The number I called was: 202-712-3000 which I found at: http://www.johnkerry.com/contact

It seems that you might want to review your phone policy to include a way for average citizens to leave feedback for you.

I request that a member of your staff respond to me by telephone at 802-363-7179.

My purpose in requesting said contact is to give you some good ideas for your campaign. For example, you need to present yourself as a World Diplomat rather than a Commander-in-Chief. Bush already has that role snapped up.

You need to show the world what you would do in Iraq and North Korea now, rather than asking us to trust you to do the right thing. Tell us what the right thing is and start doing it right now!

I can help. Call me.

Sincerely,

Steve Moyer

Kaiser Bill's Reality TV

I wonder if the US grasps the magnitude of the tragedy in Iraq. The press already tells us that large swathes of Iraq are no-go areas to US forces and TV pictures clearly show how armed resistance groups roam freely through large parts of Baghdad. All this is hardly surprising given that no country welcomes invaders. No doubt the Michigan militia would be doing much the same as the 'militants' were fortunes reversed.

I feel particularly sorry for the ordinary US soldiers, who were misled about their mission (WMD) and the reception they would receive in Iraq, and sad that America has blown much of its moral credibility. But my deepest sympathy goes to the tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians killed and maimed in their own homeland in this aggressive 'shock and awe' war. I doubt there is a single family untouched by this man-made catastrophe.

Most of all I regret the US leadership which - as with Kaiser Bill in 1914 - unleashed with such apparent enthusiasm a dire and disastrous military (and political) campaign that has only magnified the sum total of human suffering. Nothing much has changed. Bush certainly never read the First World War poets!

Would that America produce a wise leader capable of resolving key conflicts and building bridges between nations and cultures! It seems an impossible dream.

The Crux of the Matter - somewhat

I applaud your independent, factual and objective points of view.

Many people in America are afraid to speak out and express themselves by fear of repercussions. Others are just deceived by their leaders into the blindness of ignorance. I am sorry to say that many others choose to ignore the truth, by their own choice.

To say that the current problems between the USA and some Arab and Muslim cultures is a new phenomenon is misleading. This is a long standing issue that goes back 50 years and has progressively gotten worse. Michael Moore in Fahrenheit 9/11, did not go far back enough in time, to identify Arab resentment to US policy in the middle east. But if he had, I doubt he would be able to make or get funding to make any more movies, in his country.

I see a clear and present danger to Americans, Arabs, Christians and Muslims, unless America returns to the original traditions of its forefathers and founders. A tradition of righteousness, fair play and justice to all factions in the horrible Arab Israeli conflict which is drawing more and more countries and peoples to the precipice of madness.

All peoples need to return to their Holy Books, Koran or Bible, and search deeply for common knowledge, common understanding and brotherly compassion which is the intent of the Almighty.

Pedro
