Doing the dirty work for Israel "Even today I am willing to volunteer to do the dirty work for Israel, to kill as many Arabs as necessary, to deport them, to expel and burn them, to have everyone hate us, to pull the rug from underneath the feet of the Diaspora Jews, so that they will be forced to run to us crying. Even if it means blowing up one or two synagogues here and there, I don't care. And I don't mind if after the job is done you put me in front of a Nuremberg Trial and then jail me for life. Hang me if you want, as a war criminal..." From an Interview with Ariel Sharon published in the Israeli daily Davar, December 17, 1982 Sent by Liz Burbank, USA
Conflict Terminology It may be appropriate and judicious for the inclusion of a "peaceable" terminology to the ongoing " conflict terminology". Terms to be emphasized might include references to the effect that Palestinians are as human as the Israelis. That in pursuit of contributing to peaceful coexistence that the media henceforth does away with adjectivising either side. A dead Israeli is no different than a dead Palestinian. They both decompose into ashes. Each is lamented equally. Someone suggested that it may serve a peaceful purpose if the US Congress and media receive photos on a weekly basis of both Israeli and Palestinian children killed or maimed. Any humanely worthwhile act to end the conflict is worth a chance. Armand De Laurell, USA
Americans to jam shortwave broadcasts While the FCC decision October 14 to allow Broadband internet access over Power Lines (BPL) will give the cable and phone companies some competition, it is a sad day for shortwave listeners. The new service will cause extensive interference to receiving shortwave signals from around the world. This is equivalent to the cold war Russian jamming of signals from outside the country. Why is the FCC authorising the jamming of shortwave signals? Do they want to prevent Americans from listening to the broadcasts of other countries? Tom Trottier, Ottawa, ON, Canada
Worst case scenario..... Please wake up people !!! Let's pretend, the majority of people is voting for Kerry, but: who owns the voting machines ?????? A worst-case scenario: Can you imagine what will happen to the people who were hoping for a change ? Do you know how the world economy will continue to fold, because the people will have lost hope for a better future - worldwide !!!! I don´t want to begin to picture it. Yes, Kerry is no miracle worker - but with him there is hope - without him - NO hope left. Neither for the world nor for mother earth...... Please make more wake-up calls and write more to wake up all those millions of people who don't vote. Wake them up and make them go to vote. Please - it's the last chance now before election - maybe the last chance in your and our lifetime !!! Tell people, if they don't vote now: they will regret it forever !! Angela Badelt, Germany
