Famous Quotes about War&Peace "Like all children in the world, we just want to live a normal and peaceful childhood, to be able to reach school safely and to be able to sleep at night... free from the images of funerals, humiliating checkpoints, injured friends and the fear of the sounds of shelling and gun ships. Are we asking for too much?" Palestinian Children in a letter to George W. Bush Sent by Charles A Beers
Peace If only you knew how much I, an American citizen, and all of those I know personally, wish for peace and happiness in this life for all people of the world... If only you could believe the sadness we feel at seeing the tragedy for wars and suicide bombers and poverty and disease... If only you could believe we really do want to help, that it is not all about oil... If only you could stop being so afraid of us,... stop seeing us as this money hungry imperialistic cancer coming to get you and your babies... PLEASE! Tell us how to help you!! We want to! We can afford to! We want to share our peace with you!!! We are imperfect We make mistakes--we always will. But maybe you could try to see what I am telling you--we are good people. And we want to help. No strings attached... Please tell us how. Thank you Bonnie Pennsylvania USA
ABC and US & Iraqi Victims It is fine for ABC to draw the attention to the US victims of the Iraq debacle - despite a preference of the wicked warmongers for silence. What I miss is any sense of compassion or grief for the perhaps 20,000 innocent Iraqis who the 'civilised' world kindly blew to bits in their 'shock and awe' war 'games'. Here by contrast there is no body count and no showing of victim's faces. The US public needs to wake up to the appalling actions of its government in an illegal, immoral and aggressive war and the irreparable damage all this is doing to America. Phil G Hong
I apologize As an American, who protested the war, I apologize on behalf of myself and my country for the humiliation of Iraqi civilians and prisoners. I am embarrassed completely, and I am ashamed for the victims and the American people and military. I can only hope that this disgusting exposition will cast light on an already immoral series of events and get us to communicate with the intention of cooperation and peace. Bill Levine, Los Angeles, California
: Iraqi Prisoners I want the world of Islam to know that America is split down the middle on the war. Half of us are sickened by the war and the other half supports this terrible war and the crimes committed in its name makes us angry and gives us a dirty feeling inside. The soldiers that have done these crimes should face war crimes trials for their lives. Whatever the future holds for Iraq I will pray for your protection from president Bush and Sharon of Israel. I firmly believe that the real terrorists reside in our Whitehouse and in Israel. I just thought I would write and let you know that the treatment of the Iraqi prisoners made me angry and ashamed. Jeff Duvall----Austin, Texas
Hypocrisy in US Stand on Racism What was most appalling about Colin Powell's visit to Europe's conference on Anti-Semitism was that, the US continues to reward Israel's racist practices by fully funding construction of the apartheid barrier as well as state sponsored genocide against Palestinians. Assassinations, demolition of Palestinian homes (while families and peace activists are still in them!) and check points where Red Crescent ambulances (often carrying patients who require emergent care) are often blocked by IDF, remain largely ignored by US media and implicitly condoned by this administration. Ironically, the Bush administration boycotted an earlier conference on racism a couple of years ago and continues to turn a deaf ear on racism and racially motivated hate crimes at home. Is there any wonder why U.S the credibility gap continues to expand! Tim Stinson Miami, Florida The list Below represents a small fraction on what has been and continues to be avoided by this administration and the media; their roles in the promotion of Anti-Arab and Anti-Muslim sentiment and the role of bigotry in generating support for additional wars in the Midle East.
