Re 1-2 state solution

Nice quote by Haim Bresheeth (Al-Jazeerah/Al-Ahram Weekly), an Israeli academic working at the University of East London, co-editor of The Gulf War and the New World Order and co-author of Introduction to the Holocaust:

>Many Palestinians are returning to an earlier, more principled stage of their political development and argument -- the PLO solution of a secular, democratic single state in the whole of Palestine; one state that allows equal rights to Jews and Arabs alike. It is ironic that through failing to grasp the nettle which would have enabled them to keep a separate Israeli state in the pre- 1967 borders, Israeli leaders have forced a change in Palestinian thinking: "if we are not allowed to live as a free people in 22 per cent of our country, or come to that, even 10 per cent of it, maybe we should go back to fighting to liberate the whole country, for both people to live in peace, as equals."

Threats against Syria are more real than ever, Mustapha Karkouti (Al-Jazeerah, March 17, 2004)

I just read your article which appeared at www.aljazeerah.info  You present quite well the most difficult situation that Syrian decision-makers face. Especially if George Bush is reelected the Likude Zionists who now hold so many key positions in the Defense Department, State Department and National Security Council will be emboldened to carry out Sharon's wishes and dismantle the Syrian regime. What bribes cannot buy will be destroyed. Frankly, should Bush prevail against Kerry the only factors that may prevent a dismantling of the last Arab regime to stand up to international Zionism is that American forces are bogged down in Iraq and the Tony Blair refuses to provide the Americans [ really the Zionists] with cover. God help the Syrians . God help all people of goodwill.

The Palestinian "Terrorist"

By Omar Edaibat

Distraught and debased, perpetually enraged

Like an animal or a bird so callously encaged

Do you not hear? His recalcitrance is deep to the bone

Hunger, misery, plunder, a torrential of incessant terror

Yet it is he who is depraved and the fount of all error

Do you not ponder? His indignation is but fuel to his resistance

Alas! It is not them, it is not us, it is but he who is “The Cancer”

In the midst of this sickening carnage so clear to all is the answer

Do you not see? His cancer is but the cause of occupation’s “Radiation”

Bombs, tanks, guns, every conceivable tool and military weapon

Perniciously bombarded, endlessly humiliated by this toxic venom

Do you not understand? His resistance shall never cease

Impetuously unwavering for his brethrens’ emancipation

In spite of all simmering desire for his spirit’s encapsulation

Do you not know? It is him whom they call the Palestinian “Terrorist”
