In memory of the six adults and five children killed on May 13, 1985  by the Philadelphia Police Department at the MOVE House in Philadelphia, PA.

WERE YOU THERE?

 By Diana Gwinn

Were you there when they killed Dalal al-Sabagh?

Were you there when they shot her in the head and stomach?

Oh! Sometimes it causes me to puke and vomit.

Were you there when they murdered the mother of three?

Were you there when her children screamed in horror?

Were you there on March 09, 2004, a day I’ll remember?

Oh! Sometimes it causes me to rage and tremble

Were you there when they killed Dalal al-Sabagh?

Mahalia Jackson’s sweet-sorrowful voice echoes in my ear.

Were you there when they crucified my lord?

Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?

Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?

The plaintive wail of Billie Holiday reverberates in my heart.

Southern trees bear strange fruit

Blood on the leaves

Blood on the root

Were you there when they killed Dalal al-Sabagh?

Ann Coulter

Below is my letter I sent to Ms. Coulter directly. In her column she call Catholics, sickos, and Muslims, murderers who smell bad, attacked liberals and much more. We've got to speak up to stop this hate and "cultural" war that inflames passions within and without the US.

Dear Ms. Coulter

RE: "THE PASSION OF THE LIBERAL"

 http://www.townhall.com/columnists/anncoulter/ac20040304.shtml

"How Do You LIve With Ignorance and Hate"

It's hard to imagine from your writings and constant rantings against all whom you disagree with that you truly have a Christian conscience and understanding of the faith you proudly slap the world's cheek with without "loving thy enemy". I am a Muslim raised by Christians most of my life and I can tell you from my own study of the Abrahamic faiths that you truly don't understand any of them nor does your life of making a living out of hate embodies any teaching of any faith in the world with the exception of the KKK initial pure racist outlook.

You seem to think yourself a modern crusader carrying the weight of the cross with a true "passion" for hating the "other". Perhaps you need some spiritual therapy and a re-reading of the Bible to truly understand the message of peace "loving they enemy"'; "turning the other cheek" instead of "let's invade their country and kill all of them".

You're too proud of imparting your ignorant wisdom whether on religious matters, world affairs, or even the humanity of all non-white Christians. As an absolutist you'd be hard pressed to consider my opinion or anyone else's, thus you'll continue to rant until you reach your "Armageddon" which will wipe out Jews, Muslim, and Catholics. Take a deep breath Ms. Coulter and imitate your action figure, after all she's more welcome in the world with her silence and quiet wisdom. It's ironic that I heard a questioner on CNN say you had a Muslim boyfriend, I sure hope he doesn't smell bad.

Ann Coulter

Perhaps, what is most appalling about this story (even more that her usual hateful comments of Arabs, Muslims and Islam) is that in both the U.S and in Europe, much has been made of the recent rise in Anti-Semitism.  And yet, in both of these locations, negative commentary or images of Arabs and Muslims remain so deeply ingrained into the collective western consciousness that it has become almost second nature to openly express disdain toward Islam Muslims and Arabs.   Here in the U.S, this mindset is so pervasive that open expression of hostility toward Muslims and Arabs is not only overlooked and encouraged by our media, but also I would argue, shapes U.S Middle East policy!

If both Europe and the U.S are sincere about addressing religious intolerance, then all instances of hatred should be addressed when they occur.

If not, then present a disclaimer prior to each newscast stating that there are separate rules for addressing intolerance; one for Muslims, Palestinians and Arabs, and one for the rest of humanity!
