Jane stillwater Receiving Harassing Phone Calls Because of her Yesterday's Article

Be careful what you wish for (Al-Jazeerah, June 23, 2004)

Hi,

I'm still getting calls from that jerk who phoned us last year. The police traced his number. He called twice last night just to wake me up. Then hung up. He's getting to be almost part of the family!

One More Look at Reagan By Dr Habib Siddiqui (Al-Jazeerah, June 18, 2004)

Dr. Habib Siddiqui has written an excellent and comprehensive analysis of the Reagan era. I believe that Reagan has set an example for George W. Bush to follow that is not in his negatives. Reagan was a pragmatist and he has some solid achievements to his credit. As soon as it became clear to him that his adventure in Lebanon was not popular with the Lebanese Muslims he wasted no time in pulling out the American troops.

Despite being a Christian Zionist he made alliances with the Muslims of Afghanistan and Pakistan for defeating the Soviet Union. On the other hand he gave the green light to Israel for its invasion into Lebanon and he ordered the transfer of technology to make Israel a nuclear power. He made the cause of Israel the cause of the U.S. as well, which earned him enthusiastic support of the Christian Zionists, helping him win the second term.

Did he defeat the Soviets? I do not think so, but he realized that the Soviets were so weak financially that they needed to be tripped and once they fell they would not be able get up again. The Soviets tripped in Afghanistan and fell and the U.S. overpowered it with the help of Muslims of Afghanistan and Pakistan. George W. Bush, due to his myopia, has antagonized the Muslims and the American people will pay for his unwise moves.

On Former President Bill Clinton's Book, "MY LIFE"

A very blessed day to you. I just want to send my warm congratulation to the one of the greatest President that America ever had in his successful launching of his book, MY LIFE.

Honestly, he is one of my powerful inspiration to move on. He is a Man of humility with great intelligence and eloquence. No wonder why he was so successful during his watch to US Presidency in his World Peace efforts.

When he said it, he meant it. " Building America is rooting out all forms of discriminations."

God Bless America!

Sam Hamod - Critical Review of Bill Clinton's Autobiography (Al-Jazeerah, June 23, 2004).

This "critical review" by Sam Hamod of Mr. Clinton's book is singularly unhelpful. It is clear from the outset that Mr. Hamod is not an unbiased reviewer. He obviously has a deep dislike of, and deep distrust of Mr. Clinton.

How on earth could someone who is so opposed to everything Mr. Clinton did or said be an honest reviewer? Mr. Hamod's so-called review is incredibly self-indulgent as he goes on and on about the lies Mr. Clinton told, and Mr. Hamod's own perception of Mr. Clinton as a "sleaze".

Where is the discussion about the shape and form of the book? Where is the analysis of the book as a statement of the life and times of this two-term president? Where is the argument as to whether or not this book will have any effect on the history of the 90's and the national and international tensions which characterize this period? Ironically, as a result of his transparent dislike, Mr. Hamod surely failed to "lower the boom" on Mr. Clinton.

Sincerely,

Ann Muschett Wayland, MA USA

For Peace,  People Need Hope

Jim Wolfensohn: "People Need Hope" As the keynote speaker at the 10th anniversary of the Conference de Montreal, the largest international forum on trade and development in Canada, Bank President James Wolfensohn stressed the importance of addressing inequity and instability in the world by giving people more voice, opportunities, safe places to live and a chance to build on their own cultures and histories. The world will be a more peaceful and secure place, he said, if people are given an opportunity to hope, which is the basis for economic, social and intellectual growth. "People with hope don’t take a gun and go out and shoot you," Wolfensohn said. "People with hope are the basis for economic, for social, for intellectual growth."

Implications of Indo-Pak Deal on N-Weapons - Very Biased towards Pakistan (Al-Jazeerah.info, June 22, 2004)

Dear Editor,

There is nothing called "Cross border terrorism" (last paragraph l. 1) as mentioned in your article "Implications of Indo-Pak Deal on N-Weapons" by Ms. Suhrawardy. I am saddened by Ms. Nilofar Suhrawardy's choice of words here. This show how biased Al jazeerah is towards Pakistan. Kashmir is a legitimate freedom struggle of the people of Kashmir not some lame excuse to gain independence as put by India. So please don't take sides here. As a responsible media, I would urge you to only publish neutral authors not biases like Ms. Nilofar.

Best Regards,

Ahsan Hussain Lahore, Pakistan

Bush Judicial Nominees

We are rapidly losing the "protections" afforded us by our federal courts. The second highest court in the land is the D.C. court. So who does Bush nominate to sit on that court? A man that does not have a license to practice law. This fits real well with the Bush choice for the 4th circuit court, William Haynesll...the idiot lawyer that was in the Pentagon that along with Steven Cambone, wrote legal memo's stating the Geneva convention does not apply to the U.S. forces at Abu Ghraib, Gitmo and anywhere else the U.S. decides to incarcerate. If we lose our courts there will be nothing between us and ______, (fill in the blank with just about anything you can think of and you'll be correct)
