Heart of Stone

Alexandra Haman

The Haque

July 26, 2004

Heart of stone

You with your heart of stone

demolished my home

left me outside in there open

with nothing

but a stone

Even though you, with your heart of stone

Deprived me of everything I own

I refuse to let you turn my heart into a stone

I prefer throwing back to you,

your heart of Stone

Only

You have built THE WALL

With all Your Hearts of Stone

Al Aqsa Attack, Stern gang chutzpah, etc.

Dear Editor

The "extremist" attack on Al-Aqsa very well may be an IOF attack, as we know, Zionists ARE extremists and terrorists themselves.

I'd suggest to your readers to be very sceptic of what they hear or see about a lot of awful events that I fear are about to happen.

I wonder for how much time the "Stern Gang turf" (know as "Israel") crimes and arrogance will be tolerated.

The imbecility and hypocrisy of some Europeans, asking companies not to sell excavators to Israel while giving this country a lot of commercial advantages, is appalling. It's like the old joke of selling the couch where your wife cheated on you.

We are living strange times.

Regards

Juan Bertucci

Prejudice.

On Thursday the 22nd of July 2004, I saw the American news tonight on the "public TV station." The big word for the night was" Islamicterrorists ." repeated often by more than one voice . One word .

The last time I heard it so often on that PBS news Americans were being whipped up to hate levels ready for "Shock n awe " This time I suspect that the coming elections is the reason .

Here is a good word" Christianterrorists " Sound sick ? It is,  just like the other one . Oh I'm not a Moslem. How many years have American gunships been shooting up the Iraqi people?

Come on, now this is not a trick question. Another good word "gullible." Please try to be less gullible when you are being led by the snout to prejudice .

A response to Professor Victor Ginsburg's letter

Dear Editor,

In response to Professor Victor Ginsburg's thoughtful letter (Al-Jazeerah.info, July 23, 2004) regarding my article "The Liberation of Palestine from Israeli Occupation - A Universal Cause, Not Merely an Academic Exercise," referencing the FFIPP Brussels Conference, it was indeed a very lengthy article ( 13 pages and 2,285 words). I wish to commend Dr. El-Najjar for offering essayists and journalists the opportunity to voice their unedited opinion through the webpages of Al-Jazeerah.info.

I suspect because Professor Ginsburg is a member of the faculty at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles, the meeting place for the conference, he was not subjected to security checks as thoroughly and repeatedly as I was. In regard to "anti-terrorist security officials, a walk-through metal detector and hand-held once-over with a metal and/or explosives detecting wand such as you might find at an airport, and searches of hand bags and brief cases," all of the mentioned were indeed in place which led me to wonder if there had been a threat placed to college officials by Zionist or Islamist extremists.

Reflecting on Professor Ginsburg's disappointment at my lack of comment on the Sunday morning sessions, I am also disappointed that I failed to remark on the presentation by Professor Okasha, from Egypt or the one by Adi Ophir, from Israel. Unfortunately, I missed their presentations, despite all good intentions to the contrary. However, I did check with conference organizers and was informed that a tape or transcript of their remarks will be made available. I plan to develop an article based on these discussions.

In reference to my comment about needing more of a counter-balance to a Zionist perspective, frankly I found the remarks made by Dr. Yossi Alpher, the Israeli co-editor of Bitter Lemons and former senior Mossad official infused with Zionist thinking and quite provocative. And though many in attendance were sympathetic to the Palestinian perspective, they can not and do not reflect the Palestinian perspective (myself included). Only Palestinians who have experienced decades of horror due to the imposition of the Zionist agenda on their lives and property can articulate what it is to be a victim of Zionist aggression.

I would also like to take the opportunity to add a correction that appeared in the article, "Spatial Deception Used to Brainwash Israelis about the Non-existence of Palestine and Palestinians." In “Liberation of Palestine from Israeli Occupation - A Universal Cause Not Merely an Academic Exercise,” I misidentified the panelist Jad Issac of the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem as speaking on Zionist Spatial Socialization, when in fact, it was Professor Oren Yiftachel who is involved in ground-breaking work on this most important topic.

Sincerely,

Genevieve Cora Fraser
