Atrocities

The Nazis murdered Jews, how many people were murdered in Turkey in the early 1900's? How many Irish were murdered when England sent its cavalry into Ireland slaughtering the weak and defenceless with sabres? No one has claim to innocence.

:Mike Whitney's article

Hello. I believe Mr Whitney missed an important facet of the story in his piece Tony's Tangled Web: The Hutton Inquiry .

I see no email address for Mr Whitney. Perhaps you could pass this on.

Mr Whitney, I believe you missed an important point in your article. It is related to this bit.

Blair has now entered that political netherworld where all his talents are being put to use just to insure his survival. He may have thought Hutton was a reprieve, but it’s probably just a pause before the final act. Now, the Tory leader, Michael Howard, seeing the blood in the water, is calling for Blair’s resignation. I have had trouble understanding why the British press has given Bliar so much trouble while the American press has given Bush a free ride. I believe it is because the Israeli controlled British press is on a coordinated campaign to have Bliar removed from office. If Bliar is removed from office under a cloud of suspicion, his party, Labour, will suffer. I would guess this means that the Tories would win the following election. Michael Howard is an Israeli.

I believe the constant press attacks on Bliar are to force him to resign. There will be new elections that the Tories would win. As Howard is the Tory leader, he would be a likely candidate. If Michael Howard won the election, that would mean an Isreali was the head of state for the independent country of Britain. I believe that is the goal of the Israelis and the media in Britain they control. To force Blair out so that the Israeli Howard can be installed as PM of Britain. I would point to the candidacy of Lieberman, an Israeli, Clark, Israeli ancestry, Kerry, Israeli ancestry, and Dean, Israeli wife, as a similar campaign in the USA. Thanks for your insightful articles. I like your writing style.

Joe

Editor: Howard is Jewish, not Israeli, so are Lieberman, Clark, Kerry, and Dean's wife. Judaism is a religion but Israel is a state.

French Ban on headscarves

The French Assembly is wrong to ban Muslim headscarves in public schools.

France claims to be a secular state. This is not true. The Christian and Jewish Sabbaths are holidays in France, but not the Muslim Sabbath, Friday. The religious holidays Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Pentecost Friday, Whit-Monday, Assumption Day, and Christmas are all statutory holidays in France. France subsidises religious schools. Crucifixes will still hang in schools in Alsace-Lorraine.

What is next? Will they forcibly shear Sikhs whose hair is "liberated" from the tidy turbans they usually wear? Will they cut off circumcised Muslim or Jewish penises that appear in school showers?

Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by France and the UN in 1948 states: "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."

The ban on wearing religious garb and manifesting one's faith we can expect from savage dictatorships like Saudi Arabia, but not from France, the very cradle of equality, fraternity, and liberty!

I urge the French Senate to abandon this act of intolerance. In the short run, it encourages racism and bigotry. In the long run, this law will segregate Muslims into madrassas where fanatics are hatched, or onto the streets uneducated where they can learn a life of crime.

This is a bad, intolerant law that will only cause trouble and teach intolerance.

France's Senate must reject it.
