The acrid smell, the

almost sweet smell, souring

in the afternoon sun, blood

The small rocks

crushed residue of cement

lying under a girl’s inert hand

Rumble, rumble

grinding over a man in white shirt

turret turning slowly

thwack, thwack, thwack

splashing glass all around

walls blowing outward into vacant air

“We got’m, we got’m

black dog growls,

tiger cat slinks away hissing

it’s his, this arm, his

Muezzin chants maghrib,

no longer walls for echoes

no one left coming to prayer

Call for International Pressure

An open letter to Jacques Chirac and Tony Blair, calling for effective international pressure on Israel, based on the understanding that Israel has neither the will nor the ability to end the occupation without such pressure has been initially signed by (Israeli) Shulamit Aloni and (Palestinian) Hannan Ashrawi.

You are invited to sign on.

The letter It will also be signed by Israeli and Palestinian public figures and activists alike, as well as by French and British citizens. Naturally, all citizens of the world are welcome to add their signature to this call. After an initial period of campaigning, it will be presented to Jacques Chirac and Tony Blair in a media event by a public figure (This part is not yet fully planned, and input is welcome).
