Canadian Perspective about Al-Jazeerah

To all the writers in America that have the gonads to speak against what they see is all that is wrong in the US of A.. (Dr. Sam Hamod, Mike Whitney and other Al-Jazeerah columnists and authors) .I have, and hold the highest respect for them.

I read 'Al Jazeerah' every morning, yes, along with the 'mainstream' media, and in comparing the twain, there is no comparison when it comes to spewing 'truth'.

As a Canadian,, I feel an embarrassment for the lack of our peoples/government's 'ball's' to make a stand on issues that 'will' affect us as Canadians when it comes to US's policies, both internal and external.

Mr. Jean Chretien, I never liked , as a politician, nor as a statesman, but I will give credit due, when he made it adamantly clear that Canada would not to into Iraq. (Unlike Mr. Blair, that kissed Bush's behind...for reasons that still remain unclear).

EH!

The situation up here in 'The Great White North', is our dependence on the billion dollar a day trade with 'Uncle Sam'.

We have neither the political/military strength to go against the US, thus, we are up against the proverbial wall.

Thus, as a Canuck, I sometimes feel powerless to contribute to the changes we all feel is necessary to make this world a better place.

But, I garner strength from individuals that write to Al Jazeerah., and the truth's that are spoken, without fear of retribution.

kudos to all the scribblers.... hopefully we Can make change, yet I fear we're going down the toilet...and it saddens me, for all the young one's of the world and the unborn yet to come.

May we live so long to see peace in our lifetime!

Only in brotherhood can we achieve this, in this time of year.

From a Traditional Canadian....

Merry Christmas, to All, and to all Peace On Earth.!

Kerry did ask for support (Why Bush Won By James Zogby, Al-Jazeerah, December 21, 2004 )

Dear Mr. Zogby,

I was at several rallies where Kerry did as Bush did, shirtsleeves rolled, or dressed casually and leaned in and asked for the audiences support. He was very effective too. Warehouses where we had meet-ups to get out the vote were so packed people stood out on the sidewalks unable to enter. I was told recently by a friend - at a campaign rally and get-out the vote drive in Nashua NH that he attended, 600 showed up to canvas voters that day - in that area alone!

PS The election was stolen - the computers were rigged and they suppressed the vote by offering few voting machines in densely populated Democratic areas.

What's Bush's Real Goal in Iraq? By Paul Findley

I have a lot of respect for Paul Findley but in the above article (Al-Jazeerah, December 18, 2004), he makes the mistake by saying, “The only exceptions should be military units or contractors (Americans and other Eropeans) the new Iraqi government may wish to remain. Such units will remain only as long as the new government wishes. “

This exception has flaw, that is, certainly any “elected” government would be the same people, appointed by the U.S. government, employees of the CIA. These Iraqi employees would never ask anything what the U.S. government doesn’t want to do. This puppet government will never ask the U.S. to leave, leading to a long-term American colonization of Iraq.

Finally Iraqi people will again resort to war for freedom. Secondly, U.S. government has a long history of treachery, that is, signing bilateral pacts with the Third World countries but not honoring them. In 1971 Pakistan was attacked by India, Pakistan invoked the treaty of defense but U.S. never came to help, rather she did not allow Pakistan to use American bases to use radar for detecting Indian bombers over Pakistan. The Shah of Iran had a defense treaty with the U.S. but the U.S. never to defended Iran against Iraq throughout 1980s. Rather, U.S. helped Iraq for the destruction of Iran.

In Kuwait U.S. put forces to oust Saddam from Kuwait and leave, but U.S. never left. U.S. announced to leave Saudi Arabia and not using her military bases but the U.S. never left the country rather used Saudi bases for bombing Iraq since 2003. American pacts have no more value than writing on the water and signing it.
