Cheney Behind New Mideast War Drive What Jeffrey Steinberg doesn't mention in his editorial "Cheney Behind New Mideast War Drive: Return of 'Clean Break'" is that Conrad Black and the Hollinger Corporation are the owners of the Jerusalem Post. Nor does he mention (perhaps because he wrote the column before the news broke late last week) that Conrad Black's media empire is seriously cracked and likely to crumble very soon. Julie A Link
A piece by Haroon Siddiqui Have a look at Haroon's Nov 16th piece in "the Star," "What Iraq will get isn't self -rule " I find it a valid observation .and one that can be understood internationally. Here in Canada we have our own set of problems with regard to the war of terror . A change in Prime Minister could be disaster .The situation is bad enough as it is . Best wishes Ken Weston
Europeans Vindicated But Fearful About Iraq: The one and only viable exit strategy for Mr. Bush.. The one and only viable exit strategy for Mr. Bush from the Middle East disaster he created, is to start with removing the heart and cause of widespread resistance/terrorism in the region; the stinking wound from the Zionist occupation of Palestine that Mr. Bush is supporting and funding. Mr. Bush must whistle back Sharon/Likude and tell them to forget about their ideas of "a greater Israel". Control of rebuilding Iraq must be with the UN. There is no room for UEBERHEBLICHKEIT in this world, as the 1939-1945 era proved. Mr. Bush should stop playing his Monopoly Games. Only then, the Arab world can consider him a serious partner for democracy and peace. "Old Europe" will offer the U.S.A. a helping hand in overcoming their dangerously cracking financial bubble, AFTER the 2004 elections, with a democratic US president. The Bush interview with David Frost The new spin President Bush has now comes out with, in an interview with David Frost, is to press the point that US had to move against Saddam to bolster United Nation’s credibility, whose resolutions were flouted by the Iraqi dictator again and again. Saddam was asked to disarm and he was not prepared to disarm. In millions of household around the world, where this interview will be seen, normal families will come out with three major points of dissension. One, what about a 50 year record of Israeli defiance of UN resolutions and why US is not worried that Israel is as dangerous as Saddam could be. Second, what about Bush himself, who blatantly robbed the august UN of all credibility when he invaded Iraq, without a shade of shame that US and UK both are undermining an international organisation that has been identified with the 50 long year peace in the world. Third, at least now Bush should have some sensitivity to admit that there was nothing to disarm and US was barking on the wrong tree. In fact, Bush has done more damage to the soul and spirit of America that had been held up as a beacon of hope for the world at large. People thought the days of early settlers and their genocide of the native Americans was a bad dream and America had come a long way with its remarkable self-civilizing metamorphosis. George W. Bush Jr. will go down in history as the worst enemy of the American people, the one who has dragged them into a war with the rest of the world, that they may win in physical sense, but would surely lose in real terms. Karen (who has spoken out against JINSA/PNAC Neocon cabal in the Bush regime which pushed US to war in Iraq for Israel and oil) will be on Don Bustany's "Middle East in Focus" program tomorrow night (at 8 PM in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara on 90.7 FM KPFK and 98.7 FM in Santa Barbara and at 11 PM on the east coast of the USA as one can also listen in via the link at www.kpfk.org). Karen was serving as a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force at the Pentagon under JINSA Zionist extremist Douglas Feith. She resigned when she realized that the JINSA/PNAC Neocon agenda (under Cheney) had hijacked the Bush foreign policy in the Middle East (at least). Afraid of facing dissent, Bush pulls out of speech to Parliament By Bob Roberts, The London Daily Mirror George W. Bush was last night branded chicken for scrapping his speech to Parliament because he feared being heckled by anti-war MPs. The US president planned to give a joint address to the Commons and Lords during his state visit to Britain. But senior White House adviser Dr. Harlan Ullman said: "They would have loved to do it because it would have been a great photo-opportunity. "But they were fearful it would to turn into a spectacle with Labour backbenchers walking out." The decision to abandon the speech came as extraordinary security measures costing £19million placed London under a state of virtual siege ahead of Mr. Bush's arrival tomorrow. A political disaster unfolds: US and UK officials dread presidential trip By Ewen MacAskill and Julian Borger in Washington, The Guardian The British government in public says it is delighted George Bush is visiting Britain next week. Tony Blair encapsulated this in a speech last Monday when he said: "I believe this is exactly the right time for him to come." In the corridors of No. 10 a more realistic assessment can be heard. One Downing Street insider, contemplating the visit, expressed exasperation: "That man seems to cause us no end of trouble, doesn't he?" The list of issues is long - from the Kyoto pollution agreement through to Guantanamo and Iraq - and now added to it is the row over steel tariffs. At a Whitehall briefing it was not Iraq that topped the list of issues on the urgent agenda for the president and prime minister but the fate of British steelworkers. "A trade war will help nobody," an official said. Nor will the protests during the presidential visit help Mr. Blair or Mr. Bush. The trip has turned into one that no one wants. Charles Beers
TV STATION PULLS U.S. SHOW ON ISLAM Toronto Star, 11/15/03 http://www.torontostar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar /Layout/Article_Type1&call_pageid=971358637177&c=Article&cid=1068678614401
An American evangelist's television series on Islam in America was cancelled by a Toronto television station CTS after the first program because Muslims complained his tone and demeanour amounted to incitement of hatred. San Antonio-based pastor John Hagee's "tone in his comparison of what Christians believe according to the Bible and what Muslims believe according to the Qur'an" violated the code of ethics of CTS (Crossroads Television Systems), said program manager Rob Sheppard in a letter of apology to a Muslim group. Sheppard told WorldNetDaily he believes Hagee's primary intent was not to preach from his religious convictions but to incite hatred. "It was a tonal thing," he said. "You could see what he was trying to do by his tone and body language.'' It wasn't so much his exact words, Sheppard said, but Hagee's inference that Muslims cannot be loyal Americans. CTS pulled the final two of three programs in the series, titled ``Islam in America," according to Sheppard. The program manager said his station's actions - a letter of apology to Muslims and a warning to Hagee's group - was prompted by up to 100 letters of complaint from viewers.
