aljazeerah.info

Our national media is being so filtered of negative news regarding Iraq and the Palestinian-Israelis problems

that  we in the US must resort to finding the real truth outside of our own media sources. These sources are now

controlled by the powerful right conglomerates. The ABC cave-in on the Reagan program is proof positive.

Hopefully, truth will find a way of getting out to the people of the world, thru sources such as your paper.

Keep up the good work!

I am a US citizen from Georgia who has just recently discovered Al-Jazeerah.info. It is excellent, and I congratulate you on it. When I first found it, I sent links to all my friends with the title "REAL news for a change!" It is so refreshing to finally hear the news from the Arab perspective. I've known for a long time that the mainstream media in the West is biased towards Israel, and I always felt cheated because of it. Thank you for Al-Jazeerah.info!

I also found the report on your website about the threats you have received from people, many of whom unfortunately are from Georgia. I commend you for hanging tough and continuing to provide real and accurate news to thinking people who are starved for it.

Best of luck in all you do!

Respectfully yours,

Siegfried Krieger

Blaming the victim

Hi,

I saw your editorial about Howard Dean, and I have a question. Doesn't the finger point both ways where the Palestinians and Israelis are concerned? I do not deny any of the things that you say about the Israelis, but you make the Palestinians seem totally faultless. Violence is never a solution, even to violence; look at Gandhi and Martin Luther King. I guarantee you that if the Palestinians had not picked up terrorist tactics, your arguments against Israel would carry much more weight.

Geoff Marshall

Editor: Terrorism is killing, injuring, and detaining civilians for political purposes. Just look at the Human Price of the Occupation section and you'll discover that the Israeli government is the real terrorist. All what Palestinian have done so far was a reaction to the brutality of the Israeli occupation forces.

Palestinian suicide bombing is just few years ago, the vast majority of it has been since the year 2000. The peaceful methods, including signing agreements with Israelis have not resulted in the Israeli withdrawal from the Palestinian territories or in a halt in the Israeli confiscation of Palestinian lands, known as settlements. Even when Palestinian organizations observed a self-imposed ceasefire for five weeks, Sharon resumed assassination in order to provoke them to do suicide bombing. You're simply blaming the victim.

Colin Powell's warning to Arab/Muslim rulers

Colin Powell, in a speech to students and faculty at the City College of New York, is reported to have said: Rulers of non-democratic in the Muslim world have two choices, either lead the way to democratic change, or be destroyed by it, be left behind’

He further said, there is nothing inherent in Islam that is anti-democratic, that is anti-freedom," Mr. Powell added: "For the sake of their own people, we hope they (Muslim rulers) choose well.

Powell has left out the fact, that though Islam is not anti-democratic, it is anti-oppression.

In as much US message to the Arab and Muslim countries of the Middle East is to hand over their countries to the world superpower, lock, stock and oil barrels, he should know that there is no provision anywhere in the religion of Islam, to succumb to this nature of oppression and blackmail.

It may appear that US is against the rulers of Muslim countries, but the real opposition to America is from the general public and not necessarily from the rulers only.

The rulers and ruled in the Muslim world may have different interests and priorities, but when it comes to save their country from rapacious US forces, the people are fully identified with and supportive of their rulers.

Their fight with their rulers, if any, is an internal matter and can always be taken at the time of their choosing but that is not a handle for America to use that division between them to exploit and attack the country and enslave its people.

America’s high-handed invasion of Iraq is a shame for the whole world in the very start of the new century, which the Jewish neo-con cabal had planned to be the New American Century.

The developments in Iraq, point to an altogether different scenario. The new century may turn out of a New Islamic Century --- even without Muslims actively working towards it.

An American cries for Palestine

Dear Editor,

Oh how my heart cries for Palestine.  I read your website everyday and I'm filled with so much compassion for the people of Palestine.  I am a naturalized American, born in Germany.  My Father was serving in the US army at the time.

I must say I was very ignorant about anything concerning Palestine like most Americans.  But it all changed this year when I married my Palestinian husband.  I began to research the history and become aware of the Nazi type crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

My hope and my mission is to make Americans aware of the lies we are told by our government.  America used to be a country of compassion but their hearts have become like stone.  I am very sorry for the role this government has in the daily deaths of your people..... my people.  This country has been blinded and they look the other way and sit on their hands and do nothing.  I am ashamed of this.

Recently I wrote a poem and I would love to share it with you and with the people of your country..... my country..... Palestine.  I hope it will touch your heart because I wrote what is in my heart.  Please read this.

 America Do You Remember

By Chery Abdallah

Do you remember fighting for your land, your freedom,

your liberty?

Do you remember doing everything and anything

to have this great land we call America?

To see "Old Glory" waving in the wind?

Well, there's a small country who's also fighting

for their land, their freedom, their liberty.

It is Palestine, and yes it is still a country

where the children have lost their parents,

their lives, their liberty.

Where their hopes and dreams have all

but vanished.

Today they are a people without

a country.

Many without homes and families.

Many waiting to return

Imagine this........

It is a country where the Olive trees

used to stand tall

now even they are leaning and weep

for their land.

Where wives cry for their husbands

and children who have been murdered

by those who want to take their land,

their lives, their freedom.

Where husbands watch as their

wives, their children and their homes

are destroyed because of another's

greed.

Oh America how can you call these

people "Terrorist"

when they are only fighting for their

land, their homes, their families.

Is it wrong?  Look at you

you have been blinded by others

as you turn your head

and sit on your hands and do

"Nothing"

Shame on you America

Oh America, I ask you

where is your compassion?

Where is your concern?

Where is your love for humanity?

If you are a nation that truly believes in God

then you will intercede and help bring peace

to this county called Palestine.

America hear my plea

hear my plea

hear my plea

The Dark Forces of Injustice

By Genevieve Cora Fraser

When the knock comes

On the door of your soul

Do not fear opening yourself

To a view of hell created

And controlled by the Will

Of the misguided

When the knock comes

Welcome the hate filled

Into an ocean of understanding

Share the food of insight

Break bread and feed the minds

Crippled by the propaganda

Of those who would be

The masters if we let them

When the assault comes

Rise in spirit

Resist the weight of hate

Counter their attacks

With energized self-determination

Buffered and buttressed

By the full weight

Of the Loving of the world

Who offer you support

In your unmitigated suffering

‘We are all Palestinians’

Who do battle

With the dark forces of injustice

We will prevail

And the meek shall inherit the earth

Earth, a planet hungry for peace
